Battle for the Crossroads (12-22-12)

One of the things I am most proud of about our club is our willingness to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Foodhammer is the obvious example and the Necron army for Brother Jeremiah is another, but the amount of charity and generosity the FC40K guys put out is insane!  This Christmas, we wanted to take it to another level.

Crossroads for Youth (CFY) is a nonprofit residential treatment facility for adjudicated "at-risk" youth in Oxford, MI.  The boys and girls who live there have been through more hardships than any child should ever even have to know about, let alone experience.  Most have faced some form of abuse or neglect, often being completely abandoned by their families to the charity of the state.  Many are recovering drug addicts or have served time in juvenile detention.  These are the three percent of American teens who are likely to be killed or in prison by the time they are adults.

At CFY, the kids learn to manage their emotions appropriately, develop good school habits, and receive family and individual therapy to help transition them back into society.  While each individual child might have a specific treatment goal, the real mission at CFY is to help children grow up safely.

Because they are in a residential treatment program, the kids are often separated from their families on holidays.  The dedicated staff at CFY makes every effort to provide a wonderful holiday experience for the kids.  Christmas is no exception.  Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, CFY is able to give each of the kids Christmas gifts such as new clothes, books, and even some games and toys.

That's where FC40K comes in.  On Saturday, December 22nd, we will be hosting an 1850 point tournament at Gamers Sanctuary in Flint.  The entry "fee" for the tournament will be either a cash donation ($10 minimum, but more is always welcome) or a donation of a brand new board or card game.  100% of the money donated will be used to purchase games for the kids at CFY.  There will be prizes awarded, courtesy of FC40K, as well as the first FC40K Event Token!

These buttons will be given to every participant at a FC40K event.  These will be unique to each event, so once they are gone, they are GONE!

Full details of the event are available at the Gamers Sanctuary website ( and their Facebook page (  If you haven't "liked" them by now, get to it!

Come out and spread some holiday spirit with some like minded gamers and make this Christmas memorable for some kids who deserve some Christmas cheer!

  1. Did I just get called less fortunate? =)

    1. I thought the same thing when I read that! What are they paying you guys these days, LOL! Seriously though, while I'm not real interested in the tournament, I'd like to throw $10 in for Crossroads.

  2. Where can I donate fore the event?

    1. You'd be welcome to send anything to me directly. I'll PM you with my address if you need it.
