Michigan Cup Warmachine & Hordes Info

Time again for another Michigan throwdown! The response to our inaugural event was great, but we've also implemented changes in response to player feedback. The biggest concerns were with some stores being overrepresented. A related complaint was that team members were forced to play each other. That was difficult to avoid with very large teams using the previous format. In our new format, that will be much less likely. We'll be working especially carefully to try and make sure that doesn't happen. Also, please note that this event will count as a qualifier for PG_Hick's MI invitational event. Top-placing individuals will be invited to that event in the fall. More details below!

We will provide food. It will be prepared on site so we aren't delayed waiting for a delivery like last time.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but not required. You may register in person the morning of the event, but we cannot guarantee your team a spot- it'll be first come, first served. Registration is $60 per team. At $20 per player, fees remain the same from last time, though please note there are no additional registration fees.

Currently one spot open, register now at Eventbrite! Please post here or on FB with your team name and names of teammates.

OVERVIEW
The Michigan Cup is the premiere Warmachine and Hordes team event in Michigan. This bi-annual event challenges teams of three from Michigan and elsewhere to work together and win the Michigan Cup. Represent your store, club, or group and throw down to show you’ve got what it takes! This event is limited to 10 teams, so make sure you pre-register!

CUP RULES
Groups of three players register together. Players will then compete in a 30 player 50 point Steamroller. The team with the most individual wins takes the cup. The store, club, or group name will be engraved on a plaque for posterity. The winning group’s players will also be asked to take a picture with the cup. The cup will travel with the winning team to be proudly displayed.

Bonus Points: The Michigan Cup recognizes hobby accomplishments in addition to success on the tabletop. If each player on a team competes with two completely painted and based lists (following Hardcore Painting guidelines in the Steamroller document), the team counts as earning an additional win. A team may earn no more than 1 additional win through painting.

TOURNAMENT RULES
This will be a 50 point SR2014 event: Divide and Conquer (1), Standard Time limits, 2 List required. Remember that baseline SR rules now include Character Restrictions. Steamroller awards will be given to individuals placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in addition to the team award. Pre-release models are NOT legal for this event.

PRIZES
The team with the most individual wins will claim the cup as mentioned above. In the event of a tie, tiebreaks will follow the normal procedure in the SR document (Team average SoS, Total CP, etc.). In addition, individual prizes will be awarded for:

1st Place
2nd Place
3rd Place
Best painted army: As determined by event organizers.
Door prizes: Each round will have a random drawing.

Prize amounts will depend on overall attendance.
