Review: Privateer Press Objective Markers

I received a note from one of the gang that the new Privateer Press 40mm objective markers had just been delivered to our Local Game Shop - Gamers Sanctuary. I made a quick call and reserved a box.

The package:

What you get:

For less than $15.00 your package contains 3 highly detailed resin models and 3 each of the Privateer Press 40mm round-lipped bases. Each objective marker is unique – with stacked ammo crates as the central theme they are all completely different: a screwdriver, an awl, a coffee cup, ammo belt, etc. The objectives markers are also about 35mm tall – very substantial on the game table.

The resin parts have no visible mild lines, air bubbles or flash. I did not have to pick up a blade or file to clean them up – Nada, zip, nothing! A much better quality product out of the mold then Citadel Finecast and 1/4 the cost of Forgeworld resin.

Primer and Paint:

A quick wash in the sink and overnight drying and they were ready to paint. I started with Rustoleum brown primer (a $3 spray primer experiment), painted them with Citadel and P3 paints and finished with Citadel washes. I added Woodland Scenics green flock and a tuft of Army Builder tall grass to each base. I’ll spray them with Krylon Matte Clear (always excellent results) later this week.

Expect to take 2-3x longer to paint these than your original estimate – the closer you look the more detail you find.

  1. Looks great! I have a set to paint here. I wonder if they'll have personal objective markers in Steamroller 2012.

  3. Those do look sweet. I like how there are some faction-specific details on them.

  4. Looks good. Not sure they match my retribution army. The mug objective could work for war machine drinking game.

  5. I'll drybrush a bit of gloss white on the coffee mug and put a drop of gloss clear in it for the coffee.

One of the objectives has a giant wrench and the lower arm/hand of a generic jack (paint it your faction colors). It would need claws to be Cryx.

I could put a green highlight on the coal barrel and call it Necrotite...

  6. Every time I see this post I think it's Saturday, and then I die a little inside when I remember it's not. :-/
