The Exalted Court is in Session

Most WMH players would probably say that Skorne received a massive boost to their faction with the latest  book release. The Mammoth is insane and easily the best gargantuan. The Willbreaker makes him even better and boosts up models in the entire faction.

Among the other releases is Epic3 Makeda and her Exalted Court. She is a brand new warlock with a brand new warlock type: unit. She comes with not only a new reach sword but two ancestral guardian women who guard her.

This warlock unit is perhaps the most aggressive warlock that Skorne has in my inexperienced opinion. I have talked before about using Xerxis and the difficulties I've had with learning to use a very aggressive warlock / caster. I've always been about buffing and staying back; Xerxis and Makeda are definitely made for doing work.

Makeda is even further into that aggressive category; she has no direct buffs for her troops / beasts and just wants to use her fury to beat stuff up. Vortex of Destruction will help indirectly as it can boost other dudes' attacks. I plan to use that to my advantage to take down heavy targets with the beasts.

I've read quite a few battle reports so far about how she gets in and out and kills tons of stuff. I think now it is time to try her. She has obvious synergies with Molik Karn who can run through infantry; the bronzeback, who with train wreck, can again run through units; the gladiator, who provides rush to beasts / her to get her going through units with pathfinder; and Marketh, who can upkeep VoD AND cast eliminator (and then she can move after he kills stuff!).
With that in mind and Makeda's feat (rewards you for killing stuff with your battlegroup) I made the following  selections for models that will help her out:

Points: 50/50
Makeda and the Exalted Court (*2pts)
* Bronzeback Titan (10pts)
* Molik Karn (11pts)
* Titan Gladiator (8pts)
* Aptimus Marketh (3pts)
Cataphract Cetrati (Leader and 5 Grunts) (11pts)
* Tyrant Vorkesh (3pts)
Paingiver Beast Handlers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (2pts)
Agonizer (2pts)
Mortitheurge Willbreaker (2pts)

The beasts will get across the field and take advantage of her feat. The cataphracts will advance unharmed from spells and take zones; the agonizer, marketh, and willbreaker are there to support. MK walks through infantry units!

For a 75 point list if we didn't do tiers at the upcoming GS tourney:

 Makeda and the Exalted Court (*2pts)
* Archidon (7pts)
* Bronzeback Titan (10pts)
* Mammoth (20pts)
* Molik Karn (11pts)
* Titan Gladiator (8pts)
* Aptimus Marketh (3pts)
Cataphract Cetrati (Leader and 5 Grunts) (11pts)
* Tyrant Vorkesh (3pts)
Paingiver Beast Handlers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (2pts)
Mortitheurge Willbreaker (2pts)

Mammoth provides fire support on the way in and then the beasts do work. I really like the Archidon with her because it is fast and provides Sprint.

If you're thinking about Makeda3 I would definitely check out the Chain Attack podcast. I can't recommend their podcast enough. When I am prepping a new caster in the dojo I listen to their episode for that caster multiple times. Great stuff!

  1. It seems like she has a steep learning curve but when she clicks she will be amazing. One quick thing though- you mentioned giving her Rush from the Gladiator, but that animus is warbeast only. I did the same thing when I started Trollbloods.
