40k Fresh Event: UCon - October 28th, 2012 in Ann Arbor


Fresh Coast 40k members will be attending UCon in Ann Arbor on October 28th. I don't generally do tournaments anymore but we're supporting local friends from Dark Future Games and Craftworld Lansing.

I think they won't allow Forge World which is sad because the new books have clearly 40k Approved stamps and sweet models. I think people will eventually catch up - it might just take a bit. Any Fresh Coast 40k events will allow Forge World. After all, what FW unit is more broken than half the units in the GK codex ;)

Anyway my Tyranids are out of commission for a bit as I sold all my Hive Guard because I was tired of the pewter chipping and ordered all Finecast™ ones. I'll be taking my Mantis Warriors to this tournament. This is the list I'm looking at:

  1. Looks solid to me, I would consider dropping the Rhinos because they can give up an early first blood point. Switch them for pods if you have them, the Land Raiders should be able to weather first turn firing as can a pod when it comes down first turn. You could even buy pods and drop them empty to use for terrain control.

    1. That is a good idea. I could also hide the rhinos behind the Land Raiders. I may just use the drop pods, though. The Storm Talons are there to take down fliers and the captain is there to hopefully not die. Librarians used to be an auto-include but psychic hoods just aren't what they used to be.

  2. Make the Terminators into single squad that will normally just combat squad into 2 squads. Just in case you decide to save the kill point for some reason. Not much upside to doing this but there is no downside.

    1. The only upside that I can think of for two squads is that you get two Sargents (characters).
