My Armor is Contempt(or)

I guess I like dreadnoughts?!?

Finishing out Week 1 of Contemptor Month, I share some of my thoughts about contemptors in general, and sweet inspiration pics. Details after the jump.

I think it is safe to say that I like dreadnoughts. I like them quite a bit in fact. I have to admit that I was not a fan of Contemptors when they were first announced. But having seen them in person  (thanks to muggins, our resident plastic-crack dealer), I changed my mind. When muggins brought up the idea of Contemptor Month, I was all for it.

Stomp stomp! Love the paint here too. Source
Since then, I've been scouring the internet for inspiration, particularly for modeling. As can be seen in most contemptor pics, there's quite a lot of freedom in modeling these dudes! I think the key is to not go overboard with it though. I've seen some models where the modeler could have shown a bit more restraint in my opinion. The various inspiration pics I've posted here are of course examples where I think the modeler got it right.

Contemptors and dreadknight swords. Who knew it could look so great? Source
I won't be making anything as fantastic as anything here, but I do have some plans in mind. For starters, I ordered some Salamanders brass etch to help make my contemptor a little more personalized. In addition, I have what I hope is a good idea for the base. No spilling secrets yet, but it will be a callout to my other 40k army!

So we've now gotten updates from all our Contemptor Month contributors. I'm super excited to see what everyone has in store for us! Stay tuned next week for build pics and rules discussion of these super sweet models!

  2. I do, but it's a super intimidating model, plus I had to buy a new airbrush that I haven't had time to familiarize myself with, plus these commissions. Then I blink and it's contemptor month so now Bray'arth has to wait another month. :-/

Basically just #firstworldproblem excuses but I really do want to get him done while I still have a reasonable amount of free time.
