Thanks a lot Muggins

I think hanging out with Muggins, while it might be great for my hobby life, is going to get me in trouble with the wife.  Because of his insidious enthusiasm for our beloved game, he has tempted me into making several purchases lately for which he deserves some form of commission.  My Revenant Titan, Contemptor Dreadnought, and my upcoming Lizardmen battalion are just the tip of the iceberg.  Thanks to his subtle manipulations, I am now the owner of two sets of beautiful, laser cut vehicle template markers from Greenman Designs (www.gdesignsinc.com).  I also had to splurge and order 24 of these lovelies from Chessex...

...as well as another 24 of these (18 in white, 6 in black).

My Eldar and my Star Phantoms will, literally, be rolling in style!  Getting the dice in the mail yesterday inspired me to pick up my brushes again, at least for today.  I finished the base coating on the Titan, but ran out of my trusty Devlan Mud, so mounting it on its base (a plastic plate I picked up at Meijer for $2.50) remains just out of my grasp.  Instead I set out to begin construction on my Contemptor.

Magnetizing this beautiful model was a must.  Like all Dreadnought kits, it was a cinch.  In fact, with all the arm kits being designed for either side, all you need to do is magnetize the elbow joint with surface magnets.  No drilling needed.  A little shaving of the resin and it looks awesome!  I'll be ordering several more arms in the future just because I can.

In other news, I have rethought the color concept for my Drop Pods.  I have decided to do the frames and interiors in black while the exterior doors will be white.  It will look sweet and still be fluffy as all of the Star Phantom vehicles in IA10 are black with white accents.  I know the Dreads are supposed to be the same, but I love the way mine look.  What can I say?  I'm not perfect.

I have also committed myself to making a display board for my Star Phantoms.  I figure that it is the next logical step if I am building this army as an art project as much as a playable force.  Seeing the completely painted and wonderfully displayed armies at Foodhammer really inspired me.  Now to select some terrain pieces for the board...  Off to Pet Supplies Plus!
